Classic Chachapoyas

Reception at Chachapoyas airport, transfer, and check-in at your reserved hotel.
2:00 PM - We will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the town of Huancas. In Huancas, we will visit the Huanca Urco and Goya viewpoints. Then, we will travel to a potter's house where we will witness the creation of clay vessels. This activity is recognized as a national cultural heritage. After this demonstration, we will return to the city of Chachapoyas. On the way, we will visit the Luya Urco viewpoint. Then, we will travel to Independence Square, visit the walnut handicrafts, and visit the pedestrian walkway on Amazonas Street.
6:30 PM - Transfer to your hotel, overnight.

Breakfast in hotel

09:50 hours.- At the indicated hour we will pick you up from your hotel and begin the drive which will take you to the fortified citadel of Kuelap. Along the way there will be a stop in order to observe the archaeological site of Macro, a Chachachapoyan residential site that was built into the ciffs of a mountain, with walls decorated with zigzags and diamond patterns typical of Chachapoyan architecture. Afterwards we will continue the drive to the village of New Tingo where we will have a brief stop to reserve your lunches in advance, and then go on to board the cable cars. The cable car ride is 22 minutes long and will take you to the tourist center of La Malca where you will have a quick visit to its center of interpretation. From there you will walk 30 minutes to reach the archaeological complex of Kuelap with its high and imposing walls ranging up to 20 meters high. You will get to see the most important parts of the complex with many of its iconic circular houses typical of Chachapoyan architecure, many of which retain their decorative patterns, as well as ceremonial and ritualistic structures. A place full of history and mystery to discover. After coming back down from Kuelap in the cable cars you will have the lunch you reserved in New Tingo, and then be driven back to Chachapoyas, arriving around 17:30.

09:20 hours.- At the indicated hour we will pick you up from the hotel and depart for the village of Cocachimba, located 45 kilometers from Chachapoyas. In the village of Cocachimba you will reserve your lunch in advance and then begin a 5 kilometer hike (around 2 and a half hours) that goes directy to the base of the waterfall, passing farms and forest along he way. At the base of the waterfall you will have plenty of free time to bathe and take photos. Afterwards you will hike back to Cocachimba to have the lunch you reserved. Then drive back to Chachapoyas, arriving around 17:00.
